The artwork of Karen Grabowski....
is designed to take you on a spiritual journey.

Return to the Source ....

Through the interplay of complex geometric designs and vibrant colors, my art transports you to a place without limitations, a place where you can abandon fear and desperation .... where you can spread your wings and rise up to embrace your true potential.

Designed as support for your meditative spiritual journey, each work provides you with a focus for turning within. Iconic imagery, repetitive patterns, and unique visual layering draw you into the work and speak to your subconscious, reminding you to Be Still, Breathe, Listen .... and come HOME.

An Introduction ....

I formally began Gypsy Song ArtWorks in 2005 with what I thought was a simple concept: make the world more beautiful by showing us the beauty within ourselves. When I finished my first painting, The Prayer, it was as a gift to a dear friend and fellow healer, Terrie Harlan.

My second painting, Moon Goddess,  was sold to a colleague of my husband's, Julia Bullard, who went on to become my unofficial patron as she encouraged me to consider finding more public outlets for my work.

From then on, I was fortunate to display my growing gallery of work in local studios and coffee houses, regional galleries, and - eventually - to be contacted by an art gallery agent  in Japan, Chiharu Ogino, who continues to represent my work overseas.

I have learned a lot along the way .... and I have a lot to learn still. But the basic premise of my art remains the same. I believe many of us struggle with our own place in the world - how to feel worthy, valuable, and valued in an increasingly commercialized and impersonal society.

It may seem odd to think that artwork can help us deal with this angst, but there is great healing in beauty. When we surround ourselves with true beauty - whether in the form of kind and honest people, the surreal peace of the natural scenery, or a mesmerizing piece of music, poetry, or art - we open our subconscious to the possibility that we are part of something greater than our physical selves. Even if just for a few moments, we forget the bills, the difficult relationships, the problems at work. We let ourselves float in the timeless wonder of the moment. And, somehow, that moment helps us get through the next and the next and the next.

Take your time as you wander through the galleries. Let the colors enfold you. Allow your senses to dive into the patterns and discover the messages hidden inside. Don't feel like you have to analyze them as if they were "high art." No one is secretly judging you on your artistic tastes. Like what you like. Dislike what you dislike. If you want to know more, check out the stories behind each work of art to find out what they mean to me.

After more than a year away from Gypsy Song (pursuing my other love, reflexology), I am getting back to the studio. New ideas are fizzing in my brain, and I am anxious to see what happens! I hope you are, too!

Best wishes,

Karen
